New Signwriting terms
Our signwriting company has taken onboard the latest signwriting
technique of manufacturing signage for customers via 'digital' methods.
This includes digital artwork creation and manipulation and outputting
(printing) onto a substrate or vinyl self adhesive that is applicated
onto the substrate.
Roll to Roll, such as exterior banner signs are printed directly onto
the fabric (polyvinylchloride - PVC Material). PVC material is a
synthetic fabric product that has better weathering and exterior
properties than more traditional canvas or cloth fabrics.
Flat Bed Printing - directly onto the substrate. Eg. Corflute direct
printing, Multiflute or twin walled plastics. Flat bed printing is
gaining an gaining resolution, however, at this stage, the resolution is
approximately 28dpi actual visual ink dot laydown because the ink
requirements to 'key' into (bond) are still relatively higher. In common
terms, the printing is conducted at 360x720 multi pass CMYK, the visual
equals between 28dpi and 45dpi. 45 Dpi is a common screen printing
resolution onto sign boards and stickers (high).
Australia Banners still employ traditional signwriters but we no longer
use a pencil and quill to paint the letters. All our work is printed
using outdoor ink via a range of digital press equipment. Our Raphael's
are safely stored away.
A little of history and a little of nostalgia, the final outcome remains the same, boards, panels, walls, buildings etc look better with the new techniques and require an Indepth knowledge to get it right. Signwriting has evolved over the years to include spray painting, engraving, routing and laser cutting. These techniques are still employed with special projects undertaken by www.australiabanners.com.au
