Getting the size right for your wall sign |

| Often asked, how
big is the sign to be made, here are few simple tricks used by
signwriters when they look at the wall or site. a) Signs will appear smaller once up on the wall than down at ground level. Mostly it is because the height adds another visual dimension and people will be further back in order to view. So when making a sign banner for the wall, go back to the best viewing position and look at the appropriate placement. Then, remember the position and walk up to the wall and make a simple chalk mark. Measure between these marks. Then, using the draft plan of the sign. Proportionally scale up the sign. In general, most people will make a mistake by using a sign that is too small. Always choose the larger. Advertising is definitely size related and budgets should not influence the purchasing of a sign. The smaller it is, the less effective. e.g. Saving a few hundred dollars to start with only means less sales, not cost saving. b) The old Brick Trick. If the width is unlimited, and the height of the wall sign controls the size. Count the height of bricks that you have spare. Then, make the banner sign to suit the totaled brick measurements. Also, if you can stretch the sign or add a third dimension to the left and right, the extra advertising space can be used for other messages etc. c) Consider the neighbors. Not in the way you talk or cooperate with them, but how their signage may affect the relative success of your banner sign advertising. If theirs is yellow, try yours in red. If theirs is big, you can go equal sizing or change the proportion from portrait to landscape etc so that yours appears on the wall without visual competition. Not always easy to do, but if you plan for size over latency, your advertising sign will work. |
