Digital printing and processing grey is different to traditional
signwriter or offset printing (film - plate) systems. To achieve an
outdoor grade, all C M Y K dots are used to some level. This means
that even if your art file shows a 10% black with no other color
input, the Digital Printing software will insert some C M Y into the
values. Using an eyeglass, you can see the tiniest of remaining values. This is how the technology works. Grey's include other color and will appear a slight blue tinge. The image here shows how PMS 404 and 401 will print. The lighter the color, the more yellow the tint, the darker the grey, the more blue/green the tint.
