Printing Terminology - Aqueous Inks | |
| Aqueous
Inks – Inks that use water as a carrier. Typically, aqueous
inks use either dyes or pigments as colorants. We sometimes use
aqueous inks (water based) for durotran or banner skins, but in the
most part, prefer to use a solvent or alcohol based ink system for
outside use. Solvent Inks – Inks that use a solvent, generally Cyclohexanone , as a carrier and are commonly used for printing onto vinyl, as they offer good outdoor durability. Printers using solvent-based inks emit VOCs and should be ventilated. We take care that all waste is correctly stored and reconstituted for removal. |
