The background of the Australian flag is a photo slightly off focus and reduced in opacity (photoshop layer control) and the picture of the man standing infront has a glow layer behind him. The letters also use a white keyline around blue. This technique keeps the lettering legible and splits the foreground from the background. Tip: If using a strong background like above.
